Actually, that is quite pretty! Rich does the same thing. (He's made a mess in his kitchen on several occasions, covering the counter in wax). He uses a little hot plate that is supposed to be for potpourri or something, heats up the whole glass container with wax in it. We take the firestarters camping with us. Great way to reuse and recycle.

What an interesting process. Was it purchased before you were heavily into "fiber"? I know I've bought things not thinking about the fiber content and looking back I think, "gah, what did I buy that for?"

Oh gosh! Those are so adorable. I love the colors - so cute! I have that pattern printed but haven't tried it yet. The straps are so fun.

You look beautiful! I don't have any great ideas for what to do with a wedding dress. Mine has been sitting in my closet for almost 5 years. I won't have any children, so your brilliant idea is out for me. I've considered having it altered in length and such to wear to formal events, but the thought of cutting my dress makes me kind of cringe.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for sharing. I like the idea of a small wedding without the lengthy engagement. I can't imagine having one of those ridiculously huge weddings WeTV is always blathering on about! If you get so worked up about it you can't even enjoy it, what's the point? I also think sharing your dress with your kids is neat too! I have no helpful suggestions for what to do with it though!

You had a lovely wedding, and I'm not saying that just because I performed the ceremony.

I never had my dress "preserved," either. I thought about dying it and shortening it to cocktail length so it could easily be worn again, but we never go anywhere.

I love the idea of making something for each of the kids. How about doing something for each of them, and yourself, that can be kept as a keepsake? A little stuffed animal, or a garter, or a handkerchief, or a little embroidered pillow, or a necktie, or something that can be kept and cherished, possible used for a future wedding, or placed on a shelf or bed for memories. Or a shawl or wrap, or something. I don't know.

It was a special dress, and a special day, and it shouldn't sit in a closet ( like mine) or a box when it can be loved for years to come. And don't forget your veil. That can be saved, or it you can do something with it like you're planning to do with the dress.

My cats like to chew on my yarn! I catch Jasmine with her mouth open over the wool. Or she rolls in it like it's made of catnip.

Sometimes I just don't feel like knitting either. Especially right after I was done with school. I would stare at my stuff and then just walk away. It's ok. Yarn doesn't hold a grudge. :D
